How to turn business cards into contacts
Start with an empty workspace. Scan your cards, enter a contact manually, or load the clearly labelled fictional example.
Photograph or choose your cards
Choose Open camera to take a photo with your laptop webcam or phone camera, or upload a clear, upright PNG or JPEG with one card per image. Add up to 10 cards per batch and an optional back for each card. Each photo can be up to 10 MB.
Scan on your device
Start scanning to download the local reading files. The scanner reads English text in your browser. Card photos and extracted contact details are not uploaded to WRKZY or an OCR service.
Check the details and context
Compare the result with the card and detected text. Correct names, company, email addresses and phone numbers, then add an event tag or meeting note. Review possible duplicates; nothing merges automatically.
Review, then download
Mark each checked contact as reviewed. Download the reviewed contacts as a CSV for spreadsheets or a vCard (.vcf) for your address book. Both downloads are free, with no signup.

Business card scanner questions
Can I use my laptop webcam or phone camera?
Yes. Choose Open camera and allow camera access when your browser asks. Check the live preview, capture the front or back of a card, then use the photo or retake it. The camera stops after capture or closing. Audio is never requested. Camera access needs HTTPS or localhost and browser permission. If an in-app browser cannot open the camera, use your regular browser or choose an existing PNG/JPEG photo.
Is this business card scanner really free?
Yes. Scan cards, edit contacts, and download CSV and vCard files without a subscription, signup or payment. There are no paid export gates. The tool handles up to 10 cards per batch and stores up to 200 contacts in this browser; export and remove contacts to make room for more.
Are my business cards uploaded?
No. Card photos and extracted contact details are processed in your browser. WRKZY serves the scanner files, but your card images and contact contents are not uploaded to WRKZY or an OCR provider. Tool analytics record actions, such as a scan or export, without names, emails, phone numbers, image contents or filenames.
Which card formats and languages are supported?
Choose PNG or JPEG photos up to 10 MB and 40 megapixels each. Use the live camera preview on a supported laptop or phone, or choose an existing image. Convert HEIC, WebP and PDF files first. The initial scanner reads English text. Stylised layouts, small print, glare and other languages can produce missing or incorrect details. You can correct every field or enter a contact manually.
Can I scan the front and back of a visiting card?
Yes. Add a front photo, then choose Add back before scanning. Both sides are read into one editable contact. Use one business or visiting card per photo; several cards in one photo are not split into separate contacts.
How do I convert business cards to Excel or phone contacts?
Review your scanned contacts, then choose Download CSV to open them in Excel, Google Sheets or another spreadsheet. Choose Download vCard for a .vcf file that compatible address books can import. The tool does not send messages or import files into other apps for you.
How are duplicates handled?
The tool suggests possible matches using the same email address, a normalized phone number, or the same name and company. Compare matching contacts and choose whether to keep both or delete one. Suggestions can miss matches or flag different people; contacts are never merged automatically.
Will my contacts be here when I return?
Contacts, detected text, event tags and notes autosave in IndexedDB in this browser when device storage is available. Photos remain only for the current batch in this tab and are not saved. Review scanned contacts before removing their cards or starting another batch; the previous batch photos are then released. Clearing site data removes saved contacts. Download a JSON backup to keep a copy or restore your library on another device. Storage problems are shown on the page; keep the tab open and export your work.
Can I add these leads directly to WRKZY?
This free tool exports files and does not connect to a WRKZY account. Explore the WRKZY Business Card Scanner product to see the CRM workflow for reviewing card details, checking existing contacts and assigning follow-up ownership.
